A New Good Year Blimp — On Steriods
July 20, 2008
I have a feeling this blimp won’t be at a football game, unless its hauling a stadium. Boeing is in the making of their JHL-40, a blimp with four rotors that give it the air lift it needs to haul large loads. They claim it can carry tons of weight 200 miles without refueling, but I may not be a blimp wizard, but what do they refuel? Its a a block of helium with some rotors that will need a battery. Boeing also boasts its “environmentally acceptable.” Oh, maybe they made it a hybrid! Well, needless to say, this is going to take a couple of years before its out and unless someone is reading this from Alaska or Siberia, its going to be hard to spot. This super-blimp will only be flying in the Arctic, doing the dirty work that would otherwise cost huge trucks and boats.
